More about
Individual Therapy with Me
Dating in your 30s or 40s and struggling to figure out what you want or why you keep getting into similar patterns? Wanting to process trauma and find a new story and comfort in your body forward? Is life transitioning in a scary, exciting and/or grief ridden way, i.e. having a baby, stuck in marriage/getting married, or even just wanting to figure out what you want? Or has your body been an enemy for reasons due to health, eating disorders or aging?
I love support others as they tackle the grief, life changes, joy and stressors each of the questions above might bring. My goal as the therapist is to hold space, help you figure out why to better understand yourself and then look to reshape what comes next. I enjoy finding the balance in the room of gentle and supportive while also challenging and asking tough questions.

Somatic Therapy/Yoga Therapy
Along with traditional talk therapy, I offer individuals yoga therapy. What is it? The practice of yoga can be unique for each client; some clients might benefit from a fast yoga flow while others would benefit from holding a more restorative posture for longer. In both practices, the goal is to work toward reprocessing traumas and stressors in a somatic way. Usually this practice will include talk therapy with it but is just a different way of creating mindfulness and connection to the body/feelings in the space.

For my own self, yoga was immensely helpful in loving my body and processing an eating disorder. Now days, as a millennial woman with my own autoimmune and complicated health issues, yoga and the connection to my body it brings helps me slow down, show kindness to a piece of myself I frankly fight against or at best ignore and step into the feelings that are coming up.

There are so many benefits to incorporating a somatic piece to talk therapy or even mainly doing somatic work in session. I'm happy to schedule a consultation if you think this is something you'd be interested in!
Sex Therapy and Individual Work
Everything I mentioned at the intro to this page has an impact on our sexuality: how, when, why, and even what we feel comfortable or desire expressing can be impacted by external factors. Our bodies might let us down or their is grief/disappointment with what aging brings to sexuality. Sometimes what you want individually, doesn't align with what your spouse or partner wants. Individual therapy is a great space to understand your desire or unpack what you want before coming into a couples space or saying something scary. People seek out individual therapy for sex therapy for SO many reasons. While processing together, I do try to loop in other people by asking questions like "What would it mean if your partner responded to ___ ask in that way", "Why does it have to mean that?", and then what can we do to make sure you feel empowered in the communication.

Yoga therapy/somatic therapy can be a more embodied approach for individuals processing sexual trauma to feel safe in their body. Together we would have guidelines about what positions to start are okay and would move slow in the talking piece like any other trauma work.

I also use yoga therapy/somatic work for body image and sex for those that are interested.
