Couples Therapy Intensives
For Communication and Conflict
A couples therapy intensive is a great way to get to the heart of some communication patterns in an intensive period of time. These are great for couples who are ready to do the work and want to break the pattern but finding weekly time is harder than a few 3 hour intensives.
For Intimacy
After going over each of your sexual history as well as relationship, we can discuss fears, past attempts and work on tools and desires to move forward. These are for couples where sex and intimacy is the main issue in the relationship. This couple still deeply cares for each other but feels stuck and confused on where to start.
These sessions will include talk, somatic therapy (yoga, breath, movement), and practical homework you can continue at home!
For Developmental Model Work
I approach all couples through a developmental model lens. This work can touch on many different faucets of the relationship. I encourage you to read more about the developmental model if you're unsure! These sessions are for those who want to dive into the work and know they do better when they have more space to open up. Some issues that might benefit this model: sex therapy, differentiation, feeling like you're in different places in the relationship and want to understand the other.
For a Look and Discussion about a Decision
This is for the couple that generally has healthy and productive communication, however, there is a big decision to make (i.e. do we have kids, move, open up, change careers). The intensives can offer a space to layout fears, concerns, sit in the other person's perspective, and then come back and reflect. This does not mean you are "making the decision". This is creating a space for you to feel more confident.
There are many reasons why intensives can be a better fit than 50 min-90 minute sessions. Some of those reasons include: difficulty finding regular times for weekly or biweekly sessions, wanting to feel like you're gotten through a bit more in a day versus weeks, one partner or both struggle to open up in a regular session or they find themselves saying everything towards the end.
Each of these intensives requires a 20 minute phone conversation to make sure you and your partner are a good fit for the desired intensive structure. In this conversation, we will discuss how long intensives should be based on the issues coming in and if this is a one time intensive, we will meet a handful of times (3-4) or if this is a primer to come a bit longer.
Sessions range from $675 for 3 hours to $900 for 4 hours. Any time longer than 4 hours can be discussed. All intensive sessions will include a 5 minute break every hour or 10 minutes in the middle of 3 hours. This is something we can collaborate based on individual needs.
